We built something you’ll love so you can stop doing things you hate.
We’ve raised over $50M, spent two years innovating, and had the dedication of 125 team members working on this product to get here. And today, we’re thrilled to introduce the future of online business: the next generation of Triple Whale.
But before we talk about what’s new, we have to discuss how far we’ve come.
Our story begins with Madison Braids, a company run by our founders Maxx and Aj. Maxx used to ask a lot of questions like…
To answer them, Maxx and Aj would export data from Facebook and Shopify, manually compiling and analyzing it through spreadsheets. This was painfully time consuming. They needed a way to track, manage, and centralize ecommerce data—something that provided reliable attribution to inform business decisions.
The solution was the Summary Page, which compiled a great deal of data necessary to make decisions. In the early days of Triple Whale, our founders discovered that the tool they built would be useful for more businesses than just their own. And thus, Triple Whale was born.
In the early days, Maxx and Aj knew that automation was the future, and started to think about how to incorporate it.
But then, the iOS 14.5 security changes hit. Nobody could see what was happening with their ad spend any longer. The ability to track performance of any paid media campaign after these changes hit an all-time low.
As a result, Triple Whale built the best tool on the planet to actually see true attribution. When users installed Pixel on their site, it bridged the gap between websites and digital ad platforms, and made first-party data the main event. It allowed Triple Whale to actually measure and track the first-party data that is essential to successfully selling online.
This new evolution of Triple Whale represents us returning to our roots.
We started this company by bringing all of your data together in one place, but the amount of data we pulled in initially is tiny compared to the amount of data we can bring together now.
This platform has been rebuilt from the ground up, to make it more easy to access all of your data. The new iteration of Triple Whale represents the type of power you’d expect in a full GA web analytics product, an inventory management product, and an ad platform all in one.
What began as a solution for their own business quickly transformed into something much larger: Triple Whale.
Triple Whale was built to make all DTC operators more efficient. In March 2022, Aj Orbach wrote the following in Notes:
We Believe that AI will automate much of humanity's tedious work in the coming decades, freeing people to focus on what makes us human: experience itself.
We Believe AI will never be conscious in the same way humans are.
We Believe the value of the AI revolution will accumulate at the application layer—like the internet—where the company that owns the right data and understands how to automate specific jobs will capture the most value.
We Believe we can create a repeatable process to acquire the right data, automate necessary tasks, and deliver this to the market before others realize what is happening.
These powerful statements have guided product development since day one.
As Triple Whale grew, so did our understanding of the challenges ecommerce businesses face in managing, analyzing, and making data-based decisions.
For this to happen, data needs to be organized to allow for detailed analysis over time.
A full enterprise stack was necessary to fully address these issues. The problem was making that accessible to businesses of all sizes.
With the advent of tools like ChatGPT, we saw an opportunity to create a platform that would empower all operators by streaming their data into a large language model (LLM) purpose-built for their needs.
This would allow businesses of all sizes to access advanced data analysis, which was previously reserved for large companies with large budgets.
Fast forward to April 2024.
We announced Moby, the next generation of Triple Whale:
Thousands of brands joined the waitlist to start using Moby, eager to see what this new evolution of Triple Whale could do for their business. About a quarter of them were given early access, allowing them to experience first-hand the significant and positive impact Moby could have. These users sent 40,000+ messages, built thousands of custom boards, and totally transformed the way they managed their data.
Our team, spread across the globe, worked tirelessly, refining and perfecting the product based on feedback from our early beta testers.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce that the wait is over.
While Triple Whale has evolved into a complex and powerful tool, it remains grounded in three main pillars:
This is our specialty, and we continually push the boundaries of what’s possible with intelligent and clear measurement.
Our BI function centralizes all of your data and provides you with a full data team at your fingertips.
The future is automation, and it’s here to stay. Our AI function not only enhances measurement and BI but also integrates directly with LLMs. This allows you to ask questions of your data in plain English, making insights accessible to anyone.
The new Triple Whale simplifies the integration of the other tools you rely on while seamlessly working with your existing data stack. We don’t replace your legacy data systems (but we can!)—we work with them.
As all your data becomes accessible, our product will continue to evolve with more integrations, more automations, and more features to help you make better decisions.
From your first sale to IPO, Triple Whale is the data stack that scales with you.
It’s not just a tool; it's your partner, your ally in scaling, growing, and building the best version of your brand. Thank you for joining us on this journey; we can’t wait to be a part of yours.
